People often criticize what they don't understand.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

So, you're on a website called PissedConsumer.com because you had a negative experience with Melaleuca and want people to know about it. The most common types of reviews I've found on this website have to do with either the monthly committment, the backup order and the cancellation process.

All three of these things are very easy to understand and follow, as long as you've done your own research. Melaleuca is an honest company that is completely open about its policies. Sure, Melaleuca may not be for everyone. That is why, as a consumer (pissed or not), it is ultimately YOUR responsibility to do your due diligence before buying a new product or signing up for a new service.

For example, did you know that Melaleuca offers two different types of memberships, depending on your level of committment?

The Preferred Customer Membership (which is often the one people complain about) offers customers a 30 to 40% discount (along with other exclusive benefits) as long as you commit to purchasing at least 35 points worth of product. In contrast, the Direct Customer Membership allows customers to purchase whenever they want (without having to worry about a monthly committment), but they pay the regular price.

Melaleuca, Good or Bad?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I started ordering from Melaleuca about a month ago. I've signed up several people based on my own personal experiences with the products that I have tried.

I've not gone out and contacted anyone with the intention of selling them anything, they are coming to me to find out what product I am using when I tell about the amazing job something did that I tried. If they say they are interested, I tell them about the company and explain EVERYTHING I know about it. The company isn't bad, the products are fantastic, and the Customer Service has been phenomenal in my experience so far. I've called them on 3 different occasions and I've had several video teleconferences with people in the company trying to gain understanding so I know what to tell people that come to me.

I am very fortunate to have a great person to call on, the one that signed me up. If he doesn't know the answer to a question, he'll make a call. Sometimes he gets wrong information, but we quickly find out what it should be. No one has all the answers and no one is right 100% of the time, mistakes and wrong answers happen.

That's life. Some of the reviews on here are horrible and are clearly the result of the person not fully understanding the companies policies and procedures. Evidently they didn't fully read the contract, browse around the web site, ask any questions, or do anything other than complain. I've worked in Customer Service before and I know for a fact a disgruntled customer is very difficult to talk to.

They are not about to let facts get in the way of their perceptions.

I like the company, I LOVE the products, and I enjoy sharing my experiences with people. But I will NEVER try and force or persuade anyone to try something they aren't willing to try.

It's impossible to do research before they have you sign up at the meeting right then and there. If I knew they tested on animals I would have never signed up.

Also after reading the labels of various products I found it odd they don't list them out. If its all natural why are they not listed? The gum I received as a free gift has a form of aspartame which I can not take. I find it odd that a company makes you commit to an order every month.

If the products are so great shouldn't they be confident that their satisfied customers would return?

Also while signing up I was told by my rep the company really wouldn't charge my account. It was high pressure sales and I was weak.

This company is the greatest thing! You are only changing where you shop. It's REPLACEMENT spending. You're already purchasing the items at Walmart. These are WAY better products, made in the USA and environmentally friendly. There are over 400 items to choose from. I NEVER have an issue with not being about to buy the 35-point order each month. It's such a wise decision to build a business. You do have to crawl before you walk. It's not a get rich quick scheme. It does require you to reach out to people. But....it is All look worth your time. I'm making good money and I've only done this 5 months. THIS CUSTOMER IS NOT PISSED!!!!

Terrible Cashier!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to the Melaleuca store located by the Honolulu airport for the first time. I was really excited to shop and try some of the products sold there and I actually signed up for a membership too while I was there and I had the most awesome employee that works there to help me get signed up!. Oh but when I got to the checkout the cashier had terrible customer service skills she didn't greet, smile or even made eye contact she basically was talking to the computer screen and I guess she was getting brochures/magazines about the Melalueca business to put in my bags she was slamming it on the counter while running her mouth to an other associate about how tired she is and that she was still hanging from the day before. I mean like hello you're in place of business where people spend lots of money like myself and this the kind of service I get?!. And to top it off she didn't even say thank you after our transactions she just walked away and went the bathroom. Really rude!. She just lucky the associate that signed me up was right there helping with getting us checkout and of course I didn't want to make a scence while my child and my other half was there with me. This cashier that represents Melalueca needs to be retrained on providing quality customer service because there the ones that should be giving a good and positive vibe/impression so customers come back to shop.

Terrible customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They keep screwing up auto-shipments and sending them when they shouldn't. They offer to return items, but then will not refund their shipping charges which are higher than normal as well. This happened two monthes in a row and I am fed up. You also cannot just call and cancel or cancel easily - it's some complicated process. I'm sick of it. Most of the products themselves are good or decent, but the customer service for this pyramid scheme is terrible!

Well, nice that you noticed that you have a problem with the auto ship....which goes out on the last day of the month because you didn't order in the other 29 days. SO when you get your back up order , that is NOT the order for the next month.

YOU have to shop and buy for the month even though you received a back up and then you won't get another back up. IT 's SIMPLE really, its just simple minded people can't figure it out. Cancellation is easy. You are making a big deal out of it because , like the back up order, YOU REFUSE TO FOLLOW THE RULES.

AND Melaleuca isn't an MLM SCHEME....if you bothered to listen to the presentation, the first four pages of it is all about MLM and Melaleuca and the difference.

OBVIOUSLY you don't know a pyramid scheme from a PINEAPPLE. Glad you're gone!!

Guest

You're missing your orders which is why they are sending you the back up and they WON"T refund shipping charges. They refund cost of product.

YOU obviously set up a more than 35 pt back up order and now you're taking it out on the company. Call and change the back up order, or download the cancellation form (ITS EASY) if you don't know where to look, try going on the BUSINESS side of your web page and look for it. If you don't find it, in the upper right corner plug in CANCELLATION FORM and it'll take you to it. If you're to STUPID to do that, call customer service and ask them.

They 'll tell you. Don't do it at the last minute either. Do it after the first of the month and you'll be cancelled that month.

SEE?? Oh by the way Melaleuca isn't a PYRAMID SCHEME either...nice try, but you don't know what a PYRAMID SCHEME IS....you just like to throw that word out to scare people from changing their lives because you couldn't!!

Guest

They do autoship

Guest

First, there is no auto-ship, like in multi level marketing.

Second, the cancellation process is simple....write a letter by the 25th of the month and cancel....it's easy.....and customer service is trained very well and answers the phone within three rings!!

Third.....Pyramid?? First off, they are illegal....Melaleuca is the furthest thing from a pyramid you can get!!

You may be disgruntled for various reasons, but none of the arguments here are true or valid.

Guest

That's right no auto ship. Doesn't sound like the angry customer was properly enrolled. I wonder if to angry to enjoy the free $100 Melaleuca offers.

Guest

Melaleuca doesn't have "auto ship" the only way anything woukd be sent to you is if you ordered it. If you didn't order anything a back up orders is shipped.

Your enrollees should of explained the meaning of a back up order when you enrolled.

Mela doesn't auto ship petiod. As long as you as you place your monthly order you are good to go an only that order will be shipped.

They do have a monthly ship. It's a "back up " order or something like that.

This was just pitched to me a half hour ago. You pay $52 and some change monthly.

You select the products you want sent every month in case you forget to order because they want you ordering every month. If you don't want a monthly ship for a particular month, you suspend your account for the month.

Guest

It's extremely easy to cancel with them, you can do it from the website.

GREAT COMPANY!

Nothing happened - GREAT company! I have been a customer for 24 years and faithfully buy the products.

LOVE the products and the monthly commitment is what I would pay elsewhere for those products. The quality of the products is unbeatable. I don't sell/tell hardly anymore as I have told everyone that I know and most of them have been using the products also for years.

Sites like this are misleading and make you think that no one else has had a great experience but that is not true. If anyone is in doubt about these products, then try them for yourself and and MAKE your own assessment!

Cancelling is easy

Some where along the line you put a back up order of $200.00 and since you didn't order. They sent you your back up order...which is in the presentation and the contract. Call them, download the cancellation form, fill it out and CANCEL. It doesn't take 3 months to cancel the membership. If you have a balance they will hold it against you forever...(like any other store) and if you ever try to sign up again, you will be held responsible for your back balance. They don't chase you for the money like the rest of the stores will. They just file it and wait.

Their toothpaste ruined my teeth

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I ordered their toothpaste, after 6 months of use I started noticing stains on my teeth. Looked it up and saw this was linked to fluoride, too much of it will cause stains on teeth.

So I compared different toothpastes and realized Melaleuca's toothpaste was way more concentrated in fluoride than many other toothpastes!!! And no I didn't put much on my toothbrush but the little I used was enough to stain my teeth!!! Same thing happened to my boyfriend, he used the same toothpaste and stains started to appear on his front teeth after a few months of use, about the same time than me. We are using Pepsodent right now, with a lower level in fluoride and hopefully our teeth will get better.

It's been a month we stopped using Melaleuca's toothpaste and the stains are still there, it's awful. When I think about the marketing executive who was so insistent about this 'wonderful' product, I am so mad.. But then again same old story, they'll say anything to sell their poison. Because fluoride can actually be dangerous...

I trusted him because I really thought he was being honest.

My fault, I shouldn't have. Be careful with the products and do your own research, don't do the same mistake I did.

There is a non fluoride toothpaste available with melaleuca, that I absolutely love.

Guest

I have been using melaleuca toothpolish, without fluoride for over a year, I have had improved checkups, no stains, no sensitivity. Prior to using it I had bleeding gums, sensitive teeth, and a pocket that was a # 5 ( now a 3)! I can’t say enough good about the toothpaste or any of their products for that matter!

Guest

Melaleuca doesn’t even use fluoride in their toothpaste.

Guest

I've been using their tooth polish since 2008. No stains, no nothing. I'd look into your water quality.

Guest

As I understand it, fluoride stains occur during enamel formation during childhood. It seems unlikely that this is the cause of stains on adult teeth.

Guest

on tooth paste all company's that produce toothpaste will tell you to only use the size of a pea ill bet that you are also drinking water that has floride in it.

Guest

Melaleuca does make a fluoride-free toothpaste and it doesn't cost any more than the regular. That's what I use and it really is good. The melaleuca oil in it has helped heal my gum problems.

Guest

https://www.sharecare.com/health/dental-drugs/can-sodium-fluoride-be-harmful

One might try rescheduling their supplements to reduce this potential effect. Here's the scoop on flouride issues, potential overdosing, staining, or interactions with vitamins or medications.

It is considered a non-risk or low risk issue to medical community (is also added to municiple water systems).

But yes, sometimes *** happens and it's good to know why and make changes in your diet or health regime (such as pill timing or stop using certain things) to prevent interactions.

Guest

I've only been using it for a week and noticed it is helpful in removing coffee stains. Not sure what will happen after long term use but have never seen Flouride (thru toothpaste vs in drinking water) causing stains.

My sister, however, has a permanent front tooth stain (white spot) from using oral antibiotics when she was young. You might want to consider other reasons for this odd staining, but I'm glad to have your tip on this possibility.

They offered to refund us for the goods but not the handling fee even though we dis not order the goods. Huge scam people stay away stay away! Snall print specialists!

Melaleuca allows you to a full refund up to three months including your membership fee. They don't refund shipping charges.

There are no handling fees that i know of and I've been with the company for 12 years. A std shipping fee for a $65.00 order is around $7.00! Thy use plastic filled with AIR. Can't get any cheaper than that.

There is no PYRAMID SCHEME...because you don't' know what a pyramid is, but you like to scare other people into thinking they are. They aren't even an MLM scheme either. Nice try though. Your FRIEND isn't a FRIEND if they can't tell the truth.

AND you should know what you signed for and you did sign up for it too, and YOU KNEW what you signed up for as well.

There was NO HIDDEN COSTS or HIDDEN AGENDAS.....and your friend? HE/SHE made a cool $ 2.20 cents on you...WOW!!

Guest

The bad practices of your "friend" should not represent the values of the company. The company didn't ask your "friend" to register you as a preferred customer without your consent.

Don't blame the company for the dishonest actions of your "friend".

(I am not a rep) Unfortunately some people try to get away with scamming people by using legit companies and services. Know WHO wronged you before you blame the company.

Guest

It is certainly possible that you were not advised of all the details of the membership. If this is the case, it's unfortunate.

Your friend should have explained all the details. However, you did sign an agreement or verbally agree over the phone with this company. This agreement would have stated that if you did not place an order by the end of each month, a backup order would be sent to you. You even have the option to select your own backup order, but it is encouraged to place an order prior to the end of the month.

So you are blaming the company for you not reading the details of the agreement? In addition, most companies would not offer a full refund for the product price.

Guest

Amazon would give you a full refund of the purchase price. This company is one big scam...

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1315156

Amazon charges retail prices plus a hefty markup for the shipping, so if you have Amazon Prime, the shipping costs, which are much higher than Melaleuca's, are already hidden in the Amazon price for the products.....know your information!!

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1307994

Why would anyone sign up for this if you are forced to place an order each month or get dinged if you don't? Talk about pressure!

Yes, this sounds like a pyramid scheme.

Easy enough to pick up your health food products at your grocery store as more and more of them are carrying lines of organic wellness products. Or go online and order from Vitacost at a discount.

Guest

WHAT is a pyramid scheme to you? Just because people sign on to become PREFERRED CUSTOMERS and it is fully explained to you and the presentation isn't a strong arm sell.

Its a simple yes or no thank you. When was the last time a pyramid scheme offered YOU revenue sharing? All they tell you is to switch stores and save money. No NEW MONEY going somewhere else.

You already purchase these items at the grocery store or other places, so STOP doing that and do your shopping with us. WHAT PART OF THAT DON"T YOU UNDERSTAND? You are buying quality products, made 6 times stronger, which means you use less and save more money....its called PRICE PER USE, NOT price per package. Any company out there you know of that has something called the STERLING STUDY?

Look that one up. The European model to that is the Frieberg Study...two different INDEPENDENT companies testing our supplements. READ IT...you'll find we are serious about our products. Let's continue.....as a preferred customer you receive 30- 50% discount off regular prices, better safer products, no risk 100% satisfaction guarantee, SAME DOLLARS, better spent.

Then you get $100.00 of free money back in the first 4 months when you watch the learn to earn videos....and then 15% bonus shopping dollars back after the first four months so you can continue to buy products for nothing (like being paid to shop with us)...then there's the 90 day feel better guarantee or you money back. Then, you aren't a distributor (like the pyramid guys and MLM people) you don't carry inventory, you don't take order and make deliveries, you don't do billing and collections, there is no sales of any kind, you don't pressure customers to make purchases and there's no risk. Gee doesn't sound like a pyramid scheme to me. Did I mention the 7% check that you get on top of all the benefits just to shop with us?

Apparently you weren't listening to that either. AND because of all the BENEFITS I've listed...96% of the people that shopped with us last month will shop with us this month as well. Pyramid? There's over 3mil people in this organization and believe me when I say this, you don't know what a pyramid is.

You have no CLUE...you're just mudslinging. No PYRAMID ever offered these benefits and not only that but people can come in and just be customers , they don't have to build a business and if they choose to do that, they get in on the ground just like everyone else....and unlike the pyramid? You don't carry inventory and there for don't get paid for buying all that inventory and that my friend, is what a PYRAMID IS....we don't pay for someone buying a truckload of product....the pyramid does!! Your health food store doesn't have the quality, they don't have the studies, or the guarantees that we have and our product is patented as well.

Read the Sterling Study and then try and find a product at your local organic wellness shop and see if they have anything that compares.

They won't even have a study....and just because they're organic and natural doesn't mean SQUAT. Vitacost? Whose that? CHEAP pricing for CHEAP product.

Its your body.... in mine I use the best and it shows.

FYI, a farmer 1 1/2 hours away from Melaleuca's headquarters cut through some fiber optic cables on the last day of August 2017. That took down a ton of Melaleuca's phone and website capacity on the last day of the month.

It was a fluke situation and normally it works just fine. Sorry you had that experience, but I'd rejoin if I were you.

I've been a customer for 3 1/2 months and love the products. If you want to make extra money the business opportunity is the best I've ever heard of too.

I have been a loyal customer for over 12 years. I order every month because I love the products and they have helped my family in many ways.

These are the products we use in our home every day. I would never go back to buying from any other store. Their customer service is wonderful. I've returned a few products over the years with no issues what so ever.

I am so thankful I was introduced to this company.

I love this company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been a member for nearly 24 years. These are truly life-changing products.

This year I will be 78. The nutrition products have helped me immensely. The home care products have reduced my allergies to an extremely low level. But the greatest advantage to being a Melaleuca customer is the chance to enhance someone else's life.

I encourage anyone reading this review to find someone in Melaleuca to enhance your life too. The business opportunity is spectacular as well. This is nearly a two billion dollar a year company now. The company is paid out billions of dollars in referral fees and all you have to decide is how much of that you'd like to have.

Come join us and have your life enhanced too. Jim Beck, Powell Ohio

Did you read the full statement of policies? Were you following the compensation plan?

There is a list of criteria you need to meet. Did you call the company and ask why they were withholding?

I'm just curious why you aren't posting the full story? As a concerned consumer and marketer shouldn't you want to share the full story?
