I had a horrible time with their Cinnamon Mouth Rinse and their Tooth Polish. I ended up with agonizingly painful teeth after I began using their Mouth Rinse. I have been complaining to their company and spoken to about 20 employees, including the executive office where F Vandersloot's daughter in law, Paige works. I was first sent to the Adverse Reactions Department on 3 different occasions, I had to re-tell my story to customer service each time I called. I spoke to supervisors on every level, including the head supervisor over customer service. I tried to get contact information for the owner, Frank Vandersloot and I was told by Paige that she was helping me, completely avoiding giving me any email or physical mailing address. I was told the exact same statement , in the exact same tone by each employee, which was we are so sorry, we take this very seriously. They had me document it in a letter to them, as if they were going to do something and kept repeating this statement of how sorry they were. I was always promised by each person they would follow up with me, not one single person ever got back to me. End result, after months of pursuing this - a lawyer sent a letter asking me to sign their paperwork that would exclude them from any responsibility and I was asked to prove my claims and then I was bribed by a $100 Melaleuca shopping dollars.

I am a very responsible person regarding my teeth and have used mouthwash and dental floss daily for the last 20 years, so I was excited about this product. I have never , ever had tooth pain prior to using the Melaleuca mouth rinse and tooth polish. I am a very healthy person. I have no known allergies and I don't have any major illnesses. I thought it was just the mouth rinse, but when I stopped using the sensitive tooth polish, the pain stopped the next day. I had been using their fluoride-free tooth polish prior to the sensitive polish. I could never relate to tooth pain or the use of sensitive tooth paste before now. I was buying these because I believed in this company and what I thought they stood for. I might be part of a very small percentage who has problems with these products, but , beware if you ever experience what I did, or have any adverse reactions to any of their products - it's all on you and having to pay for any medical expenses. This company does not assist you in any way if you do experience anything. It's a long, drawn-out goose chase. They know most people just give up.

I do like a number of their products, they're decent, but have also purchased some that were not worth getting again. I like that they have the cholesterol lowering supplement which I have been told repeatedly works, I have used their vitamins and omega-3 supplements. I did buy their $12.99 Sei Bella mascara which seemed like an empty container. They sent me a new one and it was the same thing, very little product in the container, the brush was barely picking up the product. I don't mind saying some of the products are good and work fine, & I wish anyone the best of luck in trying their products, but I , personally, got so burned by this company because of the damage to my teeth their products caused. What bothers me is that they are not accountable to any one in the event of adverse reactions. There is no lawful entity that will do anything about these products. The FDA will do nothing about what they call neutraceutical companies. The owner is so wealthy he contributed to Mitt Romney's campaign, he owns his local BBB, he owns a radio station, he controls what is put out about his company and uses the media to smear other people. He responds to no entity. I asked each employee how his ethics were and why there was no real concern about an adverse reaction to their products and they kept repeating how sorry they were and they take this case so seriously. Ha !

I was able to find another case online in which a 2 year old came very close to dying after playing with a tube of Melaleuca tooth polish. While the majority may never have a problem with these products, clearly not all Melaleuca products are safe.

Reason of review: Harmful Products.

Preferred solution: Pay for my dental visits and any repair work from the damage your products caused.

Melaleuca Pros: Some good products.

Melaleuca Cons: Unsafe products.

Location: Largo, Florida

You probably bought the concentrated mouth wash and didn't add water to it...that would burn and make your mouth hurt. You might have an allergy or be sensitive to a NATURAL ingredient in the tooth polish which most other tooth polish does not have.

NEITHER of this is the companies fault.

What is so special about you that you are the only one of the very few, if not only customer that has had this happen to them?

That's what I was thinking too. I mistakenly tried the mouthwash concentrate once also, and then realized I wasn't following the directions.

I don't know about a 2 year old "almost dying" from toothpaste. That seems extreme.
